The new 3D metal printing technology, Xerox ElemX Liquid Metal

The Xerox ElemX Liquid Metal 3D printer is a new manufacturing process for 3D printing metal parts. Its molten aluminium droplet deposition process allows for the precise printing of a part layer by layer. This process is achieved via a unique magnetohydrodynamic process that uses Lorentz forces to methodically project up to 400 droplets per second. Unquestionably, the Xerox ElemX delivers quality parts with a very simple manufacturing process.

Quality of parts produced: Material density between 99.5% and 99.9%.

Simpler post-processing, no sintering or debinding.

Engineering 3D prints: Differences of mechanical properties between FDM, SLA prints and extruded plastics

Engineering plastics is always a difficult task, in this workshop we explore differences between isotropic, and anisotropic materials, the importance of print direction and different testing speeds. Scott Bader has accumulated a lot of experience in the material science of unreinforced and reinforced thermoset materials applications by testing these materials in our laboratory and now we are transferring this knowledge into 3D printing and thermoplastic materials as well.

Qualification of additive manufacturing with respect to industrial needs, Master and succeed the integration of additive manufacturing in your value chain with Pollen AM.

The implementation of an additive manufacturing system within the industrial apparatus requires a specific project approach to ensure an efficient integration in accordance with the company’s expectations. Pollen AM puts its expertise at the service of industrialists by proposing a specific accompaniment from the selection of materials, thanks to the openness of its systems, to the commissioning and the increase in competence of the teams for a successful integration. The objective of this workshop is to present the different steps leading to the commissioning of a system that meets the industrial context of its user.

Free Float – I want to break free

Metal AM and support structures are a love-hate relationship. You do need them to some extent, but in the end they need to be removed – often with a manual, labor-intense process. Free Float helps to reduce support structures to an absolute minimum while keeping part properties to the maximum.

The contribution of Vapour Smoothing in 3D printing post processes.

Beyond the choice and quality of materials, one of the major challenges of 3D printing to move from rapid prototyping to the heart of the production process is the finishing of the parts. Automated and more efficient post-processing, Vapour Smoothing used by Protolabs, is one of the solutions that make the difference. The principles and advantages of this technology will be explained in detail by Caroline de Bortoli.

From 3D to 4D of polymer

The development of multifunctional polymer materials in additive manufacturing is still a challenge. However, the material used is of crucial importance in the efficiency of the manufacturing process, but also in the influence on the properties of the manufactured object. Based on this requirement, the development of so-called “smart” materials has brought 3D printing to life, giving rise to 4D printing technology. By pre-programming dynamic polymer materials, 4D printing is able, under specific stimulation, to transform the forms, functions and properties of the manufactured objects to better adapt to the environment and thus offer revolutionary new perspectives for the technologies of tomorrow.
